Toula's Twilight Makers Market

Ponchatoula is hosting its first ever Night Market this September, and Twin Steeples is joining in the fun! We will be an official stop for Toula’s Twilight Makers Market, so if you are interested in selling your wares (t-shirts, candles, stickers, prints, snacks, etc) then sign up for a booth! All booths across the downtown area will be $20. The event is from 6pm-10pm, with set up at 5pm. We do have some tables available for use, so indicate on the form if you will need to use one of ours. Twin Steeples will have live music performed during the market, and we are so excited about this new Ponchatoula event! Please email director@twinsteeples.org with any questions! Whether you’re a seasoned seamstress or a newbie with a needle, join us for a lively gathering to sew, create, and connect. Bring your projects and share the excitement of bringing ideas to life in a cozy space filled with the hum of sewing machines and the rustle of fabrics. Troubleshoot challenges with help from experienced sewists and fellow enthusiasts, and enjoy the camaraderie of like-minded sewers. Remember to bring your own materials and sewing machine-it’s all about having fun, learning together, and leaving inspired at Sew What?!?

This monthly workshop will take place on the last Friday of each month and is lead by Amy Hoover Aymond and Marc Settembrino AKA Dr. Tuffy Love Andrews.

In this Scene study class by Elizabeth Lyon, you will focus specifically on dissecting and interpreting scenes from plays or film scripts. You dive into the nuances of character development and storytelling within the context of a scene. In these classes, you analyze characters, relationships, and dramatic arcs, allowing you to understand the structure, subtext, and motivations behind your roles. It's a crucial component for actors looking to sharpen their craft and create authentic, captivating performances. This class is open to all levels of acting and will always be a safe space for you to express your creative side.

About Elizabeth Lyon

 Elizabeth started her passion for performing at 14 years old when her Nana signed her up for a summer youth show. She graduated from the Actors Training Program in Northern California where she taught at Harbor Youth Theatre. She also taught kids acting and musical theatre at Swamplight Theatre the past 2 years. Elizabeth has a bachelor’s in mass communication and journalism and a master’s in public relations. She has been in numerous shows throughout her theatre life, even winning a best supporting actress award for her portrayal of her 6 characters in Wonder of the World. She was last seen as a Soloist in Sondheim on Sondheim at The Manship Theatre, Truvy in Steel Magnolias and Nancy in Oliver at Swamplight Theatre, Janet in The Rocky Horror Show at 30 by Ninety, and Mona/Lipschitz in Chicago the Musical at Evangeline Theater Company. She is excited to take this journey at Twin Steeples and to create and collaborate with local artists and anyone who has ever wanted to try acting. Elizabeth is very passionate about sharing the performing arts because this world needs more of it!

Jewelry Workshop

Join Laurie LaMarca, of Laurie LaMarca Jewelry for a jewelry making workshop using Precious Metal Silver Clay to create one-of-a-kind pieces!

  • Learn about Precious Metal Clay

  • Design and Create Earrings and a Pendant

All tools, 20 grams of silver clay, and other supplies will be provided. Any leftover silver clay will be yours to keep. LaMarca will teach you how to fire items with a torch, but will kiln fire, polish, and finish all pieces and arrange for pickup from Twin Steeples. An 18” sterling silver chain and one set of sterling silver ear wires will be provided to finish your projects.

The cost for the workshop, which includes all materials, is $175. From that tuition, LaMarca is donating $20 per student to Twin Steeples Creative Arts Center. This workshop has a limit of 8 participants, so sign up now if you’re interested! Complete the Registration Form to sign up! Payment is due at registration to hold your spot, and full refunds will only be given for cancellations through July 6th.

Poetry & Drama Camp

Our Poetry and Drama camp is designed for ages 12-14. Camp will meet from 1pm-3pm each day, with a showcase on the last day of camp! Each camper will receive a t-shirt and all camp materials with the $30 fee, and there are only 15 spots available! Please register below!

The Facilitators will be Andy Young from the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts and Taylor Wingate from the Columbia Theatre for Performing Arts. Both NOCCA and the Columbia Theatre are providing the facilitators at no charge to Twin Steeples so that we can keep our tuition low, and we are so thankful for them!

Vocal Gymnastics: An Intro to Vocal Improvisation

Discover the limitless potential of your voice in our Immersive Vocal Improvisation Workshop. This dynamic session is designed for singers of all levels who are eager to explore the art of spontaneous singing. Through a series of engaging exercises, participants will learn to trust their instincts, expand their vocal range, and develop a deeper connection to their musical intuition. This workshop is free to attend!

This workshop will be led by Taleya Jordan, a highly accomplished Senior Music Education student at Southeastern Louisiana University, specializing in a wide range of musical styles including classical, jazz, musical theatre, church music, and pop music. Her extensive repertoire includes notable performances in prestigious events such as the Mozart Opera Workshop and her featured soloist role in Vivaldi’s Gloria.
